Giving effective workplace feedback can be challenging, particularly when addressing missed deadlines, performance concerns, or difficult behaviors. The Feedback Fix puts learners in realistic workplace situations where they practice choosing constructive ways to respond.
Authoring Tool: Articulate Storyline 360
Audience: New and mid-level managers
Duration: Under 10 minutes
Format: Gamified, scenario-based eLearning
Key Features: Scenario-based decision-making, scoring, lives, immediate feedback, final results.
Employees may understand the principles of effective feedback but struggle to apply them during real workplace conversations. The course provides an opportunity to practice making these decisions in a low-risk, interactive environment.
Learners start with 3 lives and 0 points. Correct answers earn +10 points; wrong answers cost a life. Hitting 30 points unlocks Feedback Master status.
A team lead addressing chronic lateness, a manager giving feedback on interrupting in meetings, and a manager approaching missed deadlines — each scenario offers a specific/private/behavior-focused option, a vague or harsh option, and an avoidance option.
Each choice is followed by a clear verdict — not just right or wrong, but why ("Specific, private, and focused on behavior — not personality. That's effective feedback").
The closing "Feedback Master" screen recaps the takeaway — empathetic, specific, constructive feedback — rather than just showing a score.
I designed and built The Feedback Fix end to end — from choosing the gamification approach (lives, points, and a Feedback Master threshold) to writing all three workplace scenarios and their response options, to building the scoring and branching logic in Storyline.
